We are pleased to offer diverse menus for any occasion; whether your special event is a gala dinner, or a small coffee break, Luther Catering will provide the finest service and food available. Our staff can assist you in transforming your thoughts into a unique and memorable dining experience that matches your specific needs. Our Catering team would be happy to work with you to create a menu that will meet all needs including budget, vegetarian meals, restricted diets, or food allergies.

General Information

Notification:

We order food on an "as-needed" basis. This allows us to provide our clients with fresh, high-quality food. To ensure proper service, all catering requests should be made 14 days prior to each function.

Guarantees:

You will need to provide the GUARANTEED NUMBER of expected guests a MINIMUM OF 4 WORKING DAYS prior to function. Once the deadline has passed, you will be billed at 100% of the guaranteed guest count or the actual count, whichever is greater.

Cancellations:

We require a 48-hour minimum notice to cancel an event. If cancellations are made after this time period, you may be billed for any expenses incurred. Please note - special order items that we are unable to be returned will be billed to your account.

Equipment:

Equipment supplied for unsupervised events is the responsibility of the client ordering the function. You will be charged replacement costs for equipment NOT returned.

Linen:

We offer linen rental for off-campus use (linen napkins and table covers). See Catering for further details.

Leftover Food:

Leftover food, beverage, and supplies are the property of Luther Catering and are not to be taken. We plan and prepare enough food for the guaranteed number of people plus 5%. We ensure that the last guest will have the same menu selections as the first guest. The client is paying for the guaranteed number of people - any leftover food, beverages, or supplies belong to the college. This applies to all events.

Alcohol:

Luther College Catering Services is fully licensed by the State of Iowa to serve alcoholic beverages at catered events held in the Dahl Centennial Union (except Marty`s) and Baker Commons. Because irresponsible alcohol consumption can interfere with the educational purposes and social climate of the college, all guests attending Luther College catered events have a responsibility to follow the Alcohol Policies and Procedures and will be held accountable for failure to follow them. Please contact the Catering Department for additional information.
